Internship Program at Crescent Counseling Center
At Crescent Counseling Center, counseling interns embark on a thoughtfully structured journey that blends practical experience, professional mentorship, and comprehensive training. Over the course of nine months, from August through May, interns will complete 600 hours of meaningful, hands-on learning, preparing them to confidently transition into residency upon graduation.
The internship begins with an intensive first month focused on the business side of psychotherapy private practice.
Interns will become familiar with essential administrative processes, including intake assessments, billing procedures, and schedule management. This foundation allows interns to appreciate the operational aspects of clinical practice and provides critical skills for future practice management. Throughout this introductory period, interns shadow experienced therapists, gaining exposure to diverse therapeutic styles and clinical interventions. With close supervision, interns gradually engage in direct client interactions, building their confidence in a supportive environment.
From the second month forward, interns progressively build their clinical caseload.
Under the guidance of experienced supervisors, interns accrue their 240 direct clinical hours, engaging directly with clients in individual and group settings. Regular weekly individual and group supervision ensures continuous growth, support, and clinical competence. Interns receive personalized feedback, enhancing their therapeutic skills, self-awareness, and professional development.
Throughout the internship, monthly specialized training sessions—covering a broad range of clinical topics—enrich interns’ learning experiences.
Training opportunities, facilitated by seasoned therapists, empower interns to expand their clinical repertoire and stay current with evidence-based practices. Ethical considerations are integrated consistently, fostering interns’ capacity to navigate complex clinical scenarios responsibly and competently.
