ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis

What is ADHD Assessment and Diagnosis?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common mental health condition characterized by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Proper assessment and diagnosis are crucial for identifying the core challenges and developing an effective treatment plan. At Crescent Counseling Center, we use a thorough, multi-step evaluation process that typically includes an in-depth clinical interview, standardized rating scales, collection of collateral information (such as observations from family members, teachers, or other medical professionals), and optional objective testing like QbCheck.

How Does QbCheck Testing Take Place at Crescent Counseling Center?

  1. Initial Appointment with Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP)

    • The first step in the QbCheck testing process is an initial consultation with our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.

    • During this session, the NP will assess your medical history, discuss any symptoms or concerns you may have, and determine if QbCheck Testing is appropriate for you.

    • If you are deemed a suitable candidate, the NP will submit a referral for the test.

  2. Completion of QbCheck Test

    • Once you receive the referral, you will be scheduled for your QbCheck Testing session.

    • The test can be conducted in two ways:

      1. At Our Office: Complete the test in one of our designated testing rooms at Crescent Counseling Center.

      2. At Home: Alternatively, complete the QbCheck Test from the comfort of your own home, as long as you have a quiet space with minimal distractions.

    • The testing session typically lasts about 30–45 minutes and involves performing tasks on a computer designed to assess attention, impulsivity, and motor activity.

  3. Review of Results

    • After the test is completed, the NP will review your results. This involves an in-depth analysis of the data to assess attention-related issues and other relevant factors.

    • The NP will discuss the findings with you and may consider medication or other therapeutic interventions if necessary.

  4. Second Appointment to Discuss Results and Treatment Recommendations

    • You will have a second session with the NP to go over the results of your QbCheck Test in detail.

    • During this session, the NP will explain the findings and discuss treatment options, depending on the results.
