Background:

Amanda is a native of Michigan, and grew up just outside of Metro-Detroit. She joined the U.S. Army in 2009 and served overseas, one tour in Iraq and one tour in Afghanistan. After her honorable discharge she received her bachelor’s degree from Drury University in Missouri in 2019. Then her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in May 2023. Her recent experience focuses on children and families, with emphasis in, trauma, substance use, suicidal ideation, various forms of anxiety, and depression, through the lens of multicultural inclusion.

Technique:

Amanda’s clinical expertise empowers her clients to accomplish their goals and understand that their need for seeking treatment is not a limitation. Encouraging their treatment as an area to grow and a place to flourish in their lives. Her experience working with survivors of sexual assault allows Amanda to foster an environment of safety and wellness, based in trauma-informed care.

Just for fun:

In her off time, Amanda enjoys reading, spending time with her family, being involved in her local community, and participating in organizations with her children.

Amanda Sheffey, Resident in Counseling, is currently working toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She is registered with the Virginia Board of Counseling, and provides clinical services under the supervision of the LPC listed below. As a Resident in Counseling, she does not obtain or provide services on an independent basis, and she does not independently submit insurance claims. All insurance claims are submitted through Crescent Counseling Center.
